UC Policies Jeopardize Safety at its Most Vulnerable Campus
Amid rising federal crackdowns and intensified policing across the University of California system, UC Merced finds itself at the center of a critical battle over free speech, activism, and the future of academic integrity. This article explores how new policies and militarized policing threaten to undermine student rights, particularly for vulnerable communities, and places UC Merced's struggle within a larger historical context of UC student activism.

A Review of the Bobcat Art Show
From April 4th to May 3rd, La Galería (El Portal 120) held the annual Bobcat Art Show displaying pieces created and submitted by UC Merced students, staff, and faculty. Many artists opted to showcase their appreciation for nature, their heritage, and their identity. In this piece, this author highlights the most provocative, profound, and unique pieces from some of UC Merced’s best talents.

An Appeal To The Implicit
In the past week, UC Merced’s Palestine liberation movement has ramped up activities in preparation for next week’s UC Regents meeting. As part of these demonstrations, students have circulated the following pamphlet, whose author has chosen to remain anonymous. The Prestige was granted exclusive rights from the author to publish the pamphlet.

The Case of the Candidates
UC Merced’s political sphere has long been a lesser-known feature of campus, and its participants are typically limited to those whose fields of study revolve around policy and law. But in the aftermath of a particularly tumultuous year and with elections in full swing, ASUCM has attracted the attention of more than just political science students.
Over the past week, the editorial staff of The Prestige has met with several ASUCM candidates to discuss their beliefs, goals, and hopes if they are elected into their position.

Speaking Out on Sundt
In mid-February, members of the Carpenters Union came to UC Merced with the intention of drawing attention to Sundt Construction, a company that has been accused of wage theft, worker endangerment, and other irresponsible practices. They’re urging UC Merced to disqualify Sundt as a potential contractor to build the new housing project currently being developed: the Promise Housing Project.
